When should I schedule my first prenatal visit?
Ideally, schedule your first prenatal visit as soon as your pregnancy is confirmed, between weeks 6 and 8. This visit includes a complete clinical history, the first ultrasound and a personalized care plan for the entire pregnancy.What is included in a prenatal checkup?
A prenatal checkup includes clinical evaluation, blood pressure and weight monitoring, fetal growth assessment, trimester-by-trimester laboratory tests, obstetric ultrasound when indicated, nutritional guidance, and education on warning signs.How often should I have a Pap smear?
Every sexually active woman or anyone over 21 should have an annual Pap smear. After three consecutive normal results, the interval can extend to every 2 or 3 years. With prior HPV or cervical lesions, closer follow-up is required.What is a high-risk pregnancy?
A high-risk pregnancy involves an increased chance of complications for the mother, the baby, or both. It includes hypertension, gestational diabetes, multiple pregnancies, advanced maternal age, history of pregnancy loss and autoimmune conditions.
